Loot Crate: Mass Effect: Andromeda

I haven't finished playing Mass Effect: Andromeda yet, because at some point I started thinking about the wisdom of playing first person shooters while pregnant. (I guess it's fine if you don't get too immersed in the game and avoid the adrenaline rush, but where's the fun in that?) I finished the Havarl missions, so I'm somewhere around "A Trail of Hope," I think. But here's the limited edition Loot Crate, which is, like the game, not as good as the original Mass Effect, but still fun.

So, what did I get?

An Andromeda Initiative hoodie.

A miniature Nomad. (Which I hate almost as much as the Mako, for the record.)

Cereal bowls. These are so fun I almost wish Blast-Ohs were real. And they're plastic, so the baby can have her cereal in style by the time she's that age. (And no, she still hasn't made an appearance.)

Vortex bar glasses.

Assorted pins and patches.

And a Mass Effect comic.

Loot Crate: Investigate

April's Loot Crate, kind of late, I know.

A Stranger Things T-shirt. I loved Stranger Things, but this shirt is just too loud for me. (Yes, yes, I know, they're going for that '80s look, but still...) If it were black-and-white, maybe. Too bad.

This Jessica Jones fig I did like. I wonder when we're getting a second series?

X Files pencils!

The Loot Pin.

My favourite item this month: a Batman mug that changes colour when you pour hot liquid into it. Hubby seems to have taken a liking to it too, because I have yet to give it a try :)

Loot Crate: Primal

Here's March's Loot Crate. You can see the Logan fig there on the very top. That's my favourite item this month.

The T-shirt's a bit too aggressive for me. It's from Overwatch, I think.

And hey, why open your microbrew with a normal, boring bottle opener when you can use this Predator one?

This is fun, but I have no place to hang it. (It's not really wrinkly, that's just the protective film I didn't take off yet.)

This month's pin.

Loot Crate: Origins

Finally got around to picking up January's Loot Crate from the post office. The theme is "origins," so I'm expecting lots of superhero stuff.

The T-shirt was a surprise: Super Mario!

This thing? Just weird. It's a teeny tiny tiki mug that's supposed to look like Shredder, but actually doesn't.

There was also a model of Captain America's original shield, but I forgot to take a photo of that one, whoops...

The coolest item this month? This reprint of Action Comics # 1! (The first appearance of Superman, in case you're not a comic book geek. The original is worth a bundle, if you've got one lying around somewhere.)

And the Loot Pin, TMNT flavoured this month. I loved the original series as a kid, so this is pretty cool.

Loot Crate: Revolution

Here's December's Loot Crate. The theme was 'revolution.'

That's the T-shirt. Not really my thing.

We also got an Aguilar figurine. He looks too cute somehow. Maybe it's because we can see the face.

This book was the coolest item this month. The photos are hilarious.

A Firefly patch. Might be cool for cosplay purposes at some point.

And here's the pin, Assassin's Creed themed this time.

Loot Crate: Magic

The Magic crate is finally here!

We got this Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them T-shirt, which is fun because I just saw the movie and quite liked it, except for the deus ex machina ending. Still the best Potterverse film, in my opinion. The Potter movies never really captured the magic of the books for me, but this one really worked, and I loved that it wasn't just more of the same but something new.

Doctor Strange fig!

This was definitely my favourite item this month: A Game of Thrones Melisandre journal. Look forward to writing some dark tales in this soon.

We also got a comic book.

And the loot pin, of course, an Elder Scrolls inspired one. It unlocked some extra stuff in the game, I think.

If you like Loot Crate but don't want to commit without knowing what you're getting, they sell past crates and individual items at the Loot Vault. There are some bargains to be had if you're still looking for Christmas prezzies for geeky friends.

Loot Crate: Speed

Here's September's Loot Crate. The theme was "speed."

The T-shirt was Iron Man themed. Not my favourite Iron Man shirt, but pretty cool.

I liked this Batwing key chain, but the edges of the detail on top are so sharp I think I'll have to think of another use for it.

This is my favourite: the Cylon raider Scar from Battlestar Galactica.

There was also an Arrow hood ornament, a toy car, and a "Lootyear" pin.

Loot Crate: Anti-Hero

Here's last month's loot. The theme was anti-hero, so that's what we got. (I skipped July's crate, because most of the franchises represented weren't for me.)

An Archer for president T-shirt. I haven't actually seen any episodes of Archer, so not my favourite item.

Kill Bill socks. Kind of splattery for my taste, but socks are always useful. I do like the movies.

Now this one I loved, a Harley Q-Fig! You can write whatever you want in the speech bubble. I kind of wish the edges of the bubble were black instead of blue, though.

A Hellboy ceramic bank. Kind of cool. Looks good in front of my Hellboy comics.

The pin unlocked some WoW stuff, but as I don't play, I didn't look at that too closely.
